Online poker has become world acclaimed as of late, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in fact a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years many variations on the original poker game have been created, including a few games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to chemin de fer than long-standing poker, in that the players bet against the casino instead of each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is no conniving or different kinds of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the dealer declares "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the casino and of course all of the other gamblers acquire 5 cards. After you have seen your hand and the casino’s first card, you have to either make a call bet or bow out. The call bet’s amount is on same level to your original ante, indicating that the risks will have doubled. Giving Up means that your ante goes instantaneously to the house. After the wager is the face off. If the dealer does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, with an amount equal to the original bet. If the casino does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The house pays cash even with your bet and fixed expectations on your call wager. These odds are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for two pairs
- three to one for 3 of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- 20-1 for a four of a kind
- 50-1 for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
