Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors around the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world might be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money games?
