Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor in the world by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
