Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While playing web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
