Ah, the tilt. If a poker player claims never to have peered down the barrel of an approaching tilt – they are either telling a lie or they have not been gambling for a long time. This does not infer of course that every poker player has gone on tilt in the past, a few players have wonderful willpower and carry their losses as a loss and keep it at that. To be a great poker gambler, it is especially important to treat your successes and your losses in the same manner – with little emotion. You compete in the match in the same manner you did following a tough beat as you would after winning a huge hand. Most of the poker masters are not tempted by tilting following a horrible loss as they are highly seasoned and you really should be to.
You have to be aware that you cannot win every hand you’re in, even if you are the strongest player. Hands that usually cause people go on tilt are hands you were the favorite or at a minimum thought you were up until you were hit and you lost a big chunk of your bankroll. Bad losses are going to develop. Embrace that certainty right now, I will say it again – if your sister plays cards, if your parents enjoy cards, if your grandma plays cards – We all have bad defeats sometime. It is an unavoidable outcome of playing Texas Hold’em, or in reality any type of poker.
Seeing as we are assumingly (nearly all of us) in the game for one reason – to acquire $$$$, it would make sense that we would play appropriately to maximize profits. Now let us say you are up one hundred dollars off of a $100 deposit, and you suffer a gigantic hit in a NL game and your bankroll is down to one hundred and twenty dollars. You have squandered eighty dollars in a hand where you were certain to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you decided to go all-in on the flop and held a ten to one edge. And that fish! He sucked you out on the river? – Well stop right here. This is a quintessential choice for a brand-new bettor to begin tilting. They basically burned too much $$$$ on one round that they should have won and they are aggravated
