Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
