Stu Ungar is considered by most to the finest No Limit Texas hold em Poker player ever.

The 3 time World Poker Champion was born in New York in 1953 and started playing poker prior to reaching his teens.

The young bettor started out betting gin and at the age of ten had won his primary gin tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the time he turned fourteen the little poker genius had become a professional and dropped out of school.

In ‘54 Stu Ungar entered the history books by winning 10,000 dollars in a gin tournament without dropping a single hand, a record which still appears in New York these days.

The fast talking superstar has been likened, in poker terms, to athletic superstars like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Stu had a real skill for playing poker except in spite of his achievements in Hold’em poker, he favored wagering gin.

Stu once said that there may a few day be a far better No Limit Texas hold em gambler than him but he couldn’t see how anyone could ever be a greater gin player.

In ‘80 Stu was put on the world map as one of the very best Texas hold em Poker players in the globe when he was crowned World Poker Champ for the 1st time. Astonishingly it was the very first time he had played in the tournament.

The subsequent year he dismissed any suggestions that it had been a fluke, by effectively protecting his crown. And in 1997 Stu set the record by winning his third World poker championship.

But this poker legend also battled with drug abuse and a year right after succeeding his 3rd title Stu past away in his hotel room. According to medical doctors, he had passed away from a cardiac event which was triggered by his lifestyle.

Stu Ungar had began with nothing but his skill and natural talent for the game which made this poker great a millionaire many times over.
