Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
